A few months ago we posted a call on our blog to invite all Flemish developers to take part in the annual Dutch Game Awards.
Not many of them were aware of the fact that these awards are also open to the Flemish games industry. A lot of our members took the advice to heart and today we are happy to announce that two of the Flemish participants took home a Dutch Game Award at last night’s festive Awards Dinner.
Tale of Tales received the Special Award for their highly original first person exploration game Sunset and Crazy Monkey Studios was the winner in the category Best Art Direction with their hand-drawn ‘gangsters meet zombies’ third person shooter Guns, Gore & Cannoli. Congratulations to both of them and all the Dutch developers that were rewarded for their creativity in games.
Yesterday was a great day for the Flemish Games Industry as a whole. Not only did two Flemish game developers take home awards at the Dutch Game Awards, proud FLEGA member Larian Studios also ended its Kickstarter campaign for Divinity: Original Sin II with amazing results. When the campaign started on August 26, the developer asked for $500,000. After 35 days, 42,713 backers and over 19,000 comments they reached a whopping final total of $2,032,434 (plus an estimated $43,000 from Paypal). Needless to say: all the stretch goals were met!
