Graphine is a Flemish graphics middleware provider developing texture streaming and compression technology. Its customers are reaching a completely new level of graphics quality for real-time video games and VR experiences!
Graphine is currently showing off its technology at GDC (booth #101). This new level of detail is accomplished by using its Granite SDK that handles ultra-high quality 3D scans and hand painted objects or characters that are commonly used by VFX studios. Even at this ultra-high quality, the SDK supports 4K screen resolutions at 90 frames per second for an extremely detailed Virtual Reality experience.
Nurulize, one of its customers, has reached a stunning level of detail in its VR experiences by using assets straight out of the VFX industry. Their middleware is able to handle all of this in real-time, even for 4K screen resolutions at 90 frames per second. As you can imagine, this opens up a lot of possibilities for incredibly immersive, ultra-high quality VR experiences.
A video comparison between the CG short movie and the real-time demo using the Granite SDK is available on Graphine’s blog.
Graphine is showing off this demo and more at its GDC booth (#101). Graphine invites all of you to stop by for a chat if you are also present at GDC!
